Final Northeast Conference Player WAR Rankings

(I will be crunching the numbers and giving complete player rankings for EVERY D1 conference, using conference only stats and win/loss results as each conference regular season ends. The “write ups” will follow pretty similar formats, since I don’t really have the time to spend much time with each write up. Will obviously tweet out results as usual as soon as each post is up. At the end of each conference write up, I will try to include links to all conference write ups that have already been posted – and maybe an ETA for the next conference.)

What we may garner from the above results….

1st Team All Conference:
WAR Rk WAR/40 Rk HnI Rk Player Yr School G M/g P/g R/g A/g S/g B/g T/g PF/g TS%
4.95 1 6.53 1 151 1 Jerome Frink SR Long Island U. 17 32.5 17.2 9.4 2.5 1.0 1.1 3.3 3.2 0.550
4.57 2 5.24 2 139 2 Elijah Long SO Mount St. Mary’s 18 34.9 14.9 5.7 5.1 1.9 0.1 2.9 2.8 0.534
3.57 3 4.14 4 134 3 Keith Braxton FR Saint Francis (PA) 18 35.2 14.8 9.1 3.1 1.5 0.6 2.4 2.3 0.616

2.63 5 3.44 7 119 10 Chris Wray JR Mount St. Mary’s 18 30.6 7.7 6.8 1.7 1.6 1.9 1.4 1.6 0.531
Hon. Mention
2.40 6 3.55 6 123 7 Joseph Lopez JR Sacred Heart 17 29.4 13.5 8.8 0.9 0.6 1.6 2.1 2.8 0.557

If Joseph Lopez hadn’t missed that one game, he very well would had been 1st team – it’s that close. That being said, ANY player who averages less than 8 points a game yet produces to such an extent as Chris Wray did all over the court for a winning team probably deserves a 1st team nod. The elite NEC “doing the dirty work” player.

The NEC should see an uptick in quality next season (barring copious transfers out) – only 2 of the top 16 players in WAR were seniors.

Player of the Year:  Jerome Frink of Long Island U. swept the metrics, #1 in Wins Above Replacement (4.9), WAR/40 (6.5), &  HnI (151).
